PALS
PALS (Partners in Active Learning Support) is a student organization that was founded through the National FFA Organization. The program matches secondary agricultural students with elementary students (1 or 2 days a week) to help them get excited about school, explore their interest in plants and animals, and to develop their personal skills. Mentoring activities will center on building trust and developing a positive self-esteem through sharing and working together in a one-to-one relationship. This class is designed to provide stability, guidance and support to students. This role is a major commitment on the part of the students being selected, because they will be helping to build the human resource potential of a young child and themselves. The mentors will receive training from high school and elementary counselors, and agriculture teachers during class periods when the mentors are not working with elementary students.
